Elastic Fabric

slider1

Tinius Olsen provides solutions for testing elastic fabrics. Stretchable or elastic fabric is widely used in underwear, casual wear, tights and jeans, performance wear, yoga/active wear and swimwear.

You can add value to your products by providing proof of good stretchable features:

  • Demonstrate that the garment has good elasticity and is easy to wear
  • Increase good elasticity to facilitate exercise with stretching
  • Ensure good recovery to prevent the garment from deforming easily
  • Demonstrate the durability of the garment for its function, size and appearance
  • Provide wearable comfortable garments to suit any lifestyle

Stretchable fabric can be stretched in the direction in which force is applied by two-way stretch (extended in crosswise direction) or by four-way stretch (extended in both directions, crosswise and lengthwise). Some fabrics may return to their original shape after stretching, which is called recovery, while some may not return to their original shape after stretching, which is called growth.

Fabrics with improved stretch and recovery can be achieved by weaving special fibers, by weaving in fabric manufacturing or by using textured yarns.
