The key to the exceptional accuracy of the Models IT406 and IT 542 are their single-piece pendulum and integral anvil-base design. These features eliminate errors induced by loose parts in machines with bolt-on anvil construction. The only bolted parts are the replaceable anvil supports and striking bits. The superior design and construction of these machines assure maximum testing accuracy and repeatability. The total frictional and windage losses during the swing are guaranteed not to exceed 0.5% of the energy range, and losses due to pointer friction will not exceed 0.25% of the energy range. The center of percussion of the pendulum is within 1 % of the distance from the axis of rotation to the center of strike.
