Hounsfield/Tinius Olsen Launch Material Testers for Food
The growing market for testing mechanical properties of food has led materials testing company, Hounsfield/Tinius Olsen to introduce a new version of its H1K test machines that have been modified to meet the special requirements of the food industry. The food industry model, designated H1KF, feature surgical grade stainless steel construction for easy cleaning and are offered with a range of probes, shear cells and extrusion cells enabling users to check everything from hardness and stickiness to chewiness of the foods under test.
"Our test machines have long been used in the food packaging sector," explains sales and marketing director, Martin Wheeler. "And these machines have been launched in response to requests for similar high quality equipment by food companies." The machines offer the same high degree of accuracy and IT-compatible data recording as their industrial counterparts, but the 9 ranges of probes and test cell attachments are specific to the food sector.
These options include Warner Bratzler cells for cutting/slicing meats and vegetables, Back Extrusion cells for testing the consistency of materials to be extruded, such as doughs, fillings or purees and Conical Probes for tests such as spreadability. |
