New 10 Tonne Materials Tester Launched by Tinius OlsenTinius Olsen has launched its new floor standing screw driven tension/compression machine for materials testing at forces up to 100kN. Described by the company as the "ultimate combination of engineering design and quality, with state-of-the-art electronic controls and software," the H100KT bridges the gap between Tinius Olsen’s bench top machines and the higher capacity hydraulic machines, initially developed for the iron and steel manufacturing industries of North America. Designed with a frame stiffness of 250kN/mm and incorporating all the usual Tinius Olsen refinements, the H100KT is ideal for continuous daily use to test materials or components in metal, ceramics, plastics or rubber. Frame strength and high quality components make it especially suitable for test specimens with a high breaking energy or high shock, says the company. The
control unit includes a high speed RS232 data communications dual
operating port for ASCII mode and Super High Speed binary transmission
mode, providing optimum data transfer between machine and control
software. On average binary mode verses regular ASCII dramatically
increases communication speeds by at least 100%. Hardware options
such as extensometers, displacement transducers and furnaces are
included together with software that is fully PC network compatible.
This results in a machine offering tests customised to the operator’s
requirements and producing data that is fully auditable, and can
be stored or sent in a range of formats anywhere within the operators
organisation or customer base. "The new H100KT draws on all our experience in developing new, high-quality, advanced, products in recent years," says Tinius Olsen’s Director of product development John Ivory. "We believe it will be highly successful both throughout Tinius Olsen’s markets around the world."
